Election Process

One of the many benefits of being a co-op owner is the opportunity to run for the Board and vote in elections. At Sno Isle Food Co-op, owners elect members of the Board of Trustees. The Board is responsible for planning, policy-making, and oversight of the Co-op’s management and finances. The Board is not involved in store operations.

If you think you might be interested in running for the Board, please read the What We Are Looking for in a Board Member linked below and be sure to check out the Board Member Job Description, also linked below.

Running for our Board of Trustees

Every year, Co-op Owners are elected to fill  three-year terms on the nine member Board of Trustees. We have three available spots this year.

To run for our Board of Trustees you must:

  • be a Sno-Isle Food Co-op Owner in good standing,

  • attend at least one Board of Trustees meeting, and

  • complete a Board Application by August 1, 2024.

Elections are held between September 1 and October 9, 2024. Once elected, each Board Member is expected to:

  • participate in monthly Board Meetings, semi-annual retreats, and any assigned committee meetings;

  • participate in planning for the Co-op’s future;

  • Ensure that the Co-op remains fiscally sound, while operating according to its Cooperative Principles; and

  • Step up when required, to address issues as they arise.

Board Members should expect to commit 8-10 volunteer hours a month and will receive a discount of 15% while shopping at Sno-Isle Food Co-op. Board Members do not receive Patronage Dividends.
