Refugee & Immigrant Services of the Northwest

For more than 40 years, Refugee & Immigrant Services Northwest (RISNW) has been helping newly arrived refugees and immigrants rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential as contributing citizens in their new homeland. Their main office is located on the Everett Community College campus and they have satellite offices throughout Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom counties.

Sarvey Wildlife Care Center

Sarvey Wildlife Care Center, located in Arlington, has been helping orphaned and injured wildlife for almost 40 years. They are dedicated to saving the lives of sick, orphaned, injured, displaced, and debilitated wild animals entrusted to their care so that they may be successfully returned to their native habitat. Their wildlife hospital takes in all native species of wildlife. They care for everything from hummingbirds to eagles - chipmunks to bobcats. They treat about 2000 patients annually from all over the Puget Sound. 


March 2023

Sharing wheels community bike shop

Sharing Wheels is a non-profit organization located in Everett and started in 2002 by a small band of bike enthusiasts. Since then, they have provided refurbished, used bicycles to thousands of adults and children through programs and bike sales. The tools and bike stands at Sharing Wheels are available for anyone to use during open shop hours, often getting a little guidance from more experienced Sharing Wheels volunteers.

ADOPT A STREAM FOUNDATION (AND THE Northwest Stream Center)

Earth Month is observed throughout April. The Adopt A Stream Foundation (AASF) a 501(c)3 non-profit organization was established to ensure that Pacific Northwest streams continue to provide healthy spawning and rearing habitat for salmon, trout, steelhead, and other wildlife. At the same time, serve our growing population by providing clean drinking water, applicable knowledge via environmental education, and beautiful places for rest and relaxation. The Northwest Stream Center is located at AASF’s headquarters at McCollum Park in Southeast Everett.

American foundation for Suicide Prevention - Washington STATE Chapter

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The grassroots work AFSP does focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide. AFSP Washington State brings together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in our communities. Families and friends who have lost someone to suicide, vulnerable individuals, mental health professionals, clergy, educators, students, community/business leaders, and many others energize our chapter.

Cocoon House

Every June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. More than 34% of the total homeless population is under the age of 24, and up to 40% of homeless youth identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Cocoon House is a non-profit that conducts outreach to, and provides short and long term housing for homeless and at-risk young people, including their children. Parents of teens can also find support for themselves and their families at Cocoon House so that young people do not become homeless.


July 2023

Pigs peace sanctuary (chosen by co-op staff)

Pigs Peace Sanctuary is a place of tranquility and happiness located one hour north of Seattle. They are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing a safe home for unwanted, abused, or neglected animals in need and they are committed to spreading the message of compassion and respect for all animals.


AUGUST 2023

EPSF Stuff the bus for kids program

The Everett Public Schools Foundation (EPSF) has been a vital partner to the district and community since 1985. They play a unique role, providing funding that would otherwise not be available for innovative and critical programs that support student success. The foundation is working to create access, support, and awareness to represent the evolving needs of the students, families, and staff in Everett Public Schools. Funds raised in by Co-op shoppers in August 2023 will be directly donated to their Stuff the Bus for Kids program.  This program delivers over 2,900 backpack filled with supplies to students and families!

OLD DOG HAVEN

Old Dog Haven is committed to the belief that all senior dogs should live peacefully in their final years as members of a caring family. We intend to keep Old Dog Haven foster dogs as healthy and comfortable as possible by providing excellent medical care, but without heroic measures intended only to extend life. We are committed to helping these dogs find peace in their final years without judgment of the humans who have left them.

Everett Health Center

Every October is Health Literacy Month — a time to recognize the importance of making health information easy to understand and the health care system easier to navigate. Everett Health Center, Planned Parenthood provides a wide range of services — namely preventive care,  including birth control, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and screenings for cervical and other cancers. Their dedicated doctors, nurses, and support staff take time to not only talk with patients but to see them for who they are as individuals and support the life they envision for themselves.

HIBULB CULTURAL CENTER

In November we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Month/Native American Heritage Month. The Hibulb Cultural Center and Natural History Preserve mission is to revive, restore, protect, interpret, collect and enhance the history, traditional cultural values and spiritual beliefs of the Tulalip Tribes who are the successors in interest to the Snohomish, Snoqualmie and Skykomish tribes and other tribes and bands signatory to the Treaty of Point Elliott.The Hibulb Cultural Center is approximately 23,000 square feet with a 50-acre natural history preserve. The interactive cultural center features a main exhibit, a temporary exhibit, two classrooms, a longhouse, a research library, and gift shop. It also features fully certified collections and archaeological repository.

Madres de casino road-staff pick

Madres de Casino Road is a small, BIPOC nonprofit organization which works to  create safe environments for vulnerable families, serving Hispanic residents and other underserved groups within Snohomish County, Washington. Through their programs, they help to close the gap between people of diverse backgrounds, responding to racial, socio-economic, and gender divisions that divide our society. By providing services that address these inequities, they strengthen the social connections between our residents and give them the knowledge and resources they need to achieve their goals.
