Weaving for Brand-New Beginners

Learn to weave in a friendly and chill environment. In this 3 hour workshop, you will make a modern 8-inch by 15-inch tapestry to hang in your home. You will learn several weaving techniques using a wide range of colors and textures. This class is great for everyone, even if you don't think you are creative.

Q: What is included in the workshop?
A: Enough fiber to complete one 8-inch by 15-inch tapestry, access to a loom and tools, friendly instructions, and an instructional booklet.

Q: How long is the workshop?
A: The workshop lasts for 3 hours.

Q: You've really never met anybody as bad at crafting as I am.
A: Oh, weaving is so chill! People have been doing it for thousands of years. Mistakes give a tapestry texture and interest. This class is about having fun doing something new, not about perfection.

Q: Will I have to do exactly what you do?
A: Not at all! While you will all learn the same techniques, you can mix and match colors and textures to your delight.

Q: What if I don't finish during class?
A: No worries! Pay a Loom Deposit Fee of $25, and take your tools home. When you are done, bring it back within two months to get your $25 back. If you decide you love weaving and want to keep it, you've already bought the loom.

Holly Valluzzi was a middle school teacher for 6 years before starting Port Gardner Crafts. She loves weaving for its accessibility, versatility, and for all of the literary metaphors.  Her specialty is in teaching those who don't think they have any business getting behind a loom.
