Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at our Co-op

Full of lively flavors and delicious dishes — there's little wonder why many of us (no matter our heritage) are celebrating Cinco de Mayo through food! The day commemorates the 1862 victory of Mexican people over the French army. In the 1960s, Chicano activists in the US raised awareness of the holiday, in part because they identified with the victory of Indigenous Mexicans over European invaders. Since then, it has grown in popularity and we are reminded of this story of resilience as we celebrate.

To celebrate this week, we're offering a themed menu on our hot bar (top image), a sale on delicious grain-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free Mexican-American staples from Siete, and fantastic deals on fresh produce to help you build a delicious, Mexican-inspired meal. And how can Plus, we just bought in a new local bakery, Tres Lecheria.

And how can you celebrate without dessert? That’s where Tres Lecheria comes in.

Tres Lecheria is a Seattle-based, Latinx owned bakery specializing in traditional and creative tres leches cakes, founded by Kevin Moulder to honor his Mexican-American heritage. Known for using high quality and organic ingredients, they also try to source locally produced ingredients whenever possible. We are currently carrying their Traditional, Strawberry, and Horchata varieties of tres leches cakes at our Co-op. They make the perfect end to a great meal!
