2027 Board of Trustees Candidates
It’s time to elect who will serve on Sno-Isle Food Co-op’s Board of Trustees! As a democratic organization governed by our member-owners, we need your help to elect representatives to serve the Co-op. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting strategic plans for the Co-op’s future and assuring that the Co-op remains fiscally sound and operating within the Cooperative Principles.
All candidates are required to submit written statements, which are available for review below.

Meet the Candidates
Barbara Bengtsson
"As a third year board member, I am up for election, a good opportunity to tell you why our Sno-Isle Food Co-op is important to me. I love purchasing healthy food knowing that my money goes right back to the community. I love Sno-Isle’s friendly vibe and that I am not overwhelmed by a large number of redundant items, but can enjoy a curated selection of quality products.
When my kids were little we joined a pre-school cooperative – a wonderful experience! I learned that I love being part of a community that solves problems together and cares about each other, just like Sno-Isle’s staff and board are working hard to ensure the store will have room to grow and thrive with the Everett community.
If you honor me with your vote, I will continue serving on the board, helping ensure Sno-Isle continues to be the co-op we all love."
Kathleen Burgler
"I've been a member of one co-op or another for almost 40 years -- not just for the foodstuffs they offer, but because I value the co-op model and appreciate the community they foster. I've served on various boards here in SnoCo; I volunteer locally in different capacities; and I feel compelled to be of service here in my chosen town as much as I can.
I've spent the bulk of my adult life working in helping fields and know my varied experiences and perspectives would be a good addition to the Board. I currently work as a mediator and divorce coach."
Tyler Chism
"I believe deeply in the cooperative model because it puts ownership, decision-making, and investment in the hands of our community. A strong local food economy keeps more of our dollars circulating locally, supports farmers and producers, creates meaningful jobs, and builds resilient communities.
Serving as a Trustee and Board Vice President has reinforced my belief that we are stewards of something built by generations of owners. Our responsibility is not only to protect what they created, but to leave Sno-Isle stronger for those who come next.
I believe Sno-Isle’s future is bigger than any single building or location. I want to help build a financially strong, sustainable Co-op that can grow its impact, strengthen our regional food economy, and explore new ways to bring cooperative ownership and access to local food to communities throughout Snohomish and Island Counties."
Christy Dimson
"I have more than 20 years of accounting experience in both public accounting and private industry. My background includes auditing manufacturing, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations; preparing 10-K and 10-Q filings for public companies; and preparing GAAP financial statements. I am a Washington state licensed CPA, and in my current role with a health insurance company, I focus on investment accounting and financial reporting under both GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
I would like to serve as a Trustee because I value member-owned organizations and the meaningful role the Co-op plays in supporting our local community.
I hope to contribute my financial experience in a practical way while continuing to learn more about the Co-op’s operations, priorities, and the cooperative model."
Suzanne Young
"My grandmother started a co-op in her small town in Indiana over 70 years ago. Despite many moves and life shifts, membership in a local co-op has been something I have pursued and cherished whenever available. I have a bachelor's degree and am currently pursuing a master's in Economics. Currently, I work as a Software Product Manager but my passion is the intersection of economics and community engagement. As a Trustee I would use my economics and technology expertise to contribute to the stable growth of the co-op so more people can benefit from high quality, local, and sustainable food.”
